The first Once I saw Olga Balan was in a movie, Sights crazy of Vincenzo Salemme . In one scene, at one point, Olga sings two famous Neapolitan songs, 'O surdato' nnammurato and Torna a Surriento in Rumanian language. I immediately thought, genius! With the curiosity typical of every journalist, I wanted to know more and was a pleasure to discover this talented singer (from soft voice and very clear) and his love for the traditional Neapolitan music.
Romena of gypsy origin, Olga Balan was born in Bucharest , where he attended high school and the popular school of art, graduating a professional singer: has landed in Italy in 1998, debuting at Theatre Politeama of Naples , national premiere, with her CD Naples Romania Roundtrip . Afterwards, he continued his artistic career by going to the discovery of folk music and gypsy Romania, adding to his singing career as an actress even a few forays to the cinema, where this year we have seen in the film Carlo Verdone I, Lara and their . Sunny and very kind, he gladly accepted the proposal of a chat with our blog, offering a fine example of how music can become an extraordinary instrument of knowledge and integration of the peoples of the world.

Olga, let's start from your meeting with the Neapolitan song ...

My album Naples Romania Roundtrip born from that I have to Neapolitan songs, precious treasure of unique beauty, with lyrics that are real poems, hard to find in the songs of today. I made this album to raise awareness of the beauty of the Neapolitan song to my people, singing in Naples, and to know the language Romania to Italy, singing in Romania ( with texts translated by the poet George Stanca , ed ).

In your opinion, what they have in common these two musical cultures?

We are very close, passionate. We are Latinos. The album Naples Romania Roundtrip , among other things, includes a vocabulary, which shows the linguistic similarity of the two peoples.

You also worked on the Gypsy musical culture: what is the footage that you're more attached?

I have a deep passion for music and gypsy folk music of Romania. Thus was born my album Gypsy Soul , Published under the title in three different languages, Italian, Rumanian ("Inima de Tigancà") and Romany, the language of the Gypsy population (ILO Rom'ni). I love this music because it's passionate, violent, sweet, poignant sensibility (like Neapolitan songs ...) is performed with instruments such as the gypsy violin (which has a sound that can remain in the blood), the cymbals, accordion and the three-stringed bass. Gypsy Soul is a project to which I hold dear and which I took to the stage with the cooperation of Ministry for Equal Opportunities of City of Rome , 's UNAR (National Anti-Racial Discrimination), of ' Association Join (National Union and the International Roma and Sinti in Italy) and Centre of Popular Culture .

What is the motivation that led you to make this album?

I feel in my soul, I have to carry on the tradition and the Gypsy Music Romania not to make it disappear completely and to recover as much as possible a wonderful heritage, which is important for everyone, because it makes us understand who we really are and what our origins.

're very active in the defense of ethnic minorities from discrimination ...

Yes, I am a delegate of the ' Association Partida Romilor Pro Europa and collaborate in the field of culture with the' Association Join and its president Kazim Cizmic , which is delegated official ' And European Roma Travellers Forum based in Strasbourg . H also party to or campaign "Dosta" (Roman word meaning "enough") Promoted by our own to combat prejudices and stereotypes about the Roma and Sinti people.

PS If you want to know more about Olga Balan and his music, I recommend you visit his site www . olgabalan.com : It is very nice and has lots of movies (taken from various TV shows on RAI and Mediaset ) show that the singing talent of this artist. Enjoy!

Marinads For Deer Roasts

The "Waka Waka "by Shakira, multicultural anthem

What were these good show World Cup in South Africa . Not just for the game and the goal, but for the extraordinary richness of faces, sounds, beautiful landscapes that broadcasters have given us. Everyone will bring their own memory of this great event, although difficult to forget the song that has accompanied so many days of sport and that sums up the spirit who is also our blog. Yes, we talk just Waka Waka of Shakira . Maybe someone storcerà the nose and considered the song too easy and commercial merit reflection. It does not matter. We like mass culture, we love cibarci of its products, of course se hanno qualche contenuto intelligente da trasmettere. The result? A beautiful song, able to convey enthusiasm, joy, joy to the world. And sorry if it's just ...

My Flow Of Urine Has Weakened

We like the rainbow. Because it includes all colors. Neighbors joined together, side by side. Like the rainbow, we like the world's cultures. United and not divided. Near and far. Without barriers or waste. This blog was created by a deep and irrepressible need: to talk about the cultures of peoples who now inhabit our cities, our neighborhoods, our streets, our homes. Why there are not only "us", but there are "others" and "elsewhere". Because, in our hearts, we love the contamination, the intersection, the mixture. That way, it seems a general policy statement and a bit 'naive. But it is not important, we do not care. Will be content to give substance to this our aspiration, leaving the word to the stories of writers, artists, singers, actors (famous or unknown, it does not matter) capable of expressing, each with inspiration and talent, the soul of the land. Because only then will learn to love others just like ourselves.
