Italy and Romania, two countries and a Renaissance

Gli esempi sarebbero tanti, e vogliamo dwell on one in particular. The idea comes from an interesting book edited by Marco Baratto , entitled The Italian Risorgimento and the independence of Romania (available on-line at www.feltrinelli.it and www.lulu.com), which through four agile essays have appeared in various magazines shows that the special links were established between the protagonists of the Risorgimento and the Romanian national cause.
Explain Marco Baratto: "Although in a different way Garibaldi, Mazzini , Cavour and Vittorio Emanuele II had direct contacts with the Romanian national movement. Garibaldi and many Romanian patriots claimed in 1866, the establishment of a Danube that Legion, composed of patriots of the various oppressed nationalities would have to fight in Hungary , Serbia and Romania for the complete liberation of those countries. Mazzini, the apostle of freedom, not only worked directly with the exiles in London, Romanian, but agents of Mazzini were operating directly in Romania: enough to remember the section of Braila of Young Italy - made up of Italian exiles - which became a center for propagation of ideas of Mazzini in Romania and Bulgaria . Cavour, then, was a great supporter of the Romanian national cause, not only gave him refuge in the Kingdom of Sardinia a number of Romanian patriots who also fought in the ranks of the Piedmontese army, but especially during the Paris Congress following Crimean War fought for autonomy and for the unity of United Principalities of Wallachia and Moldova. Vittorio Emanuele II, finally, was the first European monarch to address a Alexander Cuza a message of support and friendship when it came to pass in 1859 Cuza's election as head of the United Principalities, a gesture reciprocated in March 1861 when the principles were the first country in Eastern Europe to recognize the new Kingdom of Italy .
examples that demonstrate how the identity of a nation is the product of a complex set of trade between nations that meet on different levels, from politics to the different artistic expressions: "On the Italian side - continues Barter - the poet Aleardo Aleardi , the poem tells The seven soldiers just the presence of Romanian soldiers during the campaigns of the Risorgimento both in the ranks of the army is in Imperial Austria to Sardinia-Piedmont and bitterness for a people who had been compelled to fight in Italy almost like a civil war. On the Romania, Ioan Dragescu that the took refuge in Transylvania Turin where he graduated in medicine, he participated as a volunteer in the Piedmont in all the battles of the campaign of 1866. From that experience came the book Love and country to celebrate our Risorgimento, courage and hope for the Italians to the Romanians that they can get a united and independent country. "
All this to point out, quite simply, the story is a common set of symbols, documents, memories and events, that all people share, always, with other peoples. And for this, it is nice to know that the section of the Società Dante Alighieri of Timisoara, together with the Faculty of Italian Studies of the 'University of Timisoara , led by Professor Viorica Balteanu , a great lover of Italian culture , will organize in April, a conference dedicated just to the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy and the relationship between these two renaissance.
